Ease of shopping, product variety, secure payments and free shipping are some of the reasons that have made online shopping a huge success.

And when we talk about online shopping, marketplace is the most popular channel. In fact, it is so popular that 97% of U.S. online shoppers[2] shop on marketplaces.

With such a huge opportunity, listing on one marketplace is not enough today. Sellers across the globe have started listing their products on multiple marketplaces.

Similar to Amazon, eBay has a global presence in more than 20 countries that facilitates consumer-to-consumer and business-to-consumer sales through its website.

Etsy

Jet

With more than 4 million customers and the forecasted GMV of £20 billion by 2020, Jet is highly recognized and trusted marketplace in the US.

Newegg

With a global reach into more than 80 countries in Europe, Asia Pacific, Latin America and the Middle East, Newegg majorly focuses on computer hardware and consumer electronics.

Newegg’s cross border fulfillment service allows merchants from outside the US to expand into this market.

Reverb

Launched in 2013, Reverb is an online marketplace for musicians to buy, sell, and learn about new, used, and vintage music gear.

You can create free listings for musical instruments and other related equipment on Reverb. To help users determine market values for instruments, the marketplace provides a price guide of real-time transactional data.

The marketplace charges sellers a 3.5% commission fee and a percent for credit card processing. With over 1 million items sold by 383,000 sellers, Reverb is world’s largest music gear website.

Sears

With around 200 featured brands, Sears offers extensive product offerings in various categories including appliances, baby products, jewelry, and electronics.

With 24×7 availability, Fulfilled by Sears (FBS) is an order fulfillment service from Sears that manages warehousing, pick/packing and shipping of customer orders for your business.

Walmart

With over 10,000 sellers and $7.3 billion in net revenue (FY2018-19), Wayfair is one of the largest ecommerce destinations for home furnishings and decor.

Wish

Founded in 2010, Wish is one the fastest growing marketplaces with more than 300 million customers in the US and Europe.

With no listing fees and easy setup, the marketplace charges merchants on revenue sharing basis i.e. whenever a sale is made, you have to pay a percentage of the order amount.

Wish’s fulfillment service – Fulfillment by Wish helps merchants ship products to customers in the US and Europe.

Zibbet

Just like Etsy, Zibbet is a marketplace supporting four categories – Handmade, Fine Art, Vintage and Craft Supplies.

Americanas

Americanas is a Brazilian marketplace that supports a wide range of categories including homeware, fashion, consumer electronics, books and baby products.

The marketplace has over 200,000 products listed on it with 45 million monthly visitors.

Casas Bahia

Linio

eMAG

eMag is a Romanian marketplace with presence in Hungary, Bulgaria and Poland as well. The marketplace doesn’t charge any monthly fees.

It has physical stores in France and multiple other countries. With over 15 million monthly visitors, the marketplace is the third most visited French eCommerce site.

Folksy

Folksy is a UK based marketplace focused on handmade products and original artwork.

With items sold by over 15,000 UK based designers, Folksy provides 2 selling packages: Basic and Plus.

They charge fees for listing items and also a commission fee when you sell an item. Basic package listings are charged as £0.15 + VAT. A Plus account is £45 per year including VAT and gives you unlimited listings and free relisting too.

The marketplace has over 4 million monthly visitors and is worth considering if you want to sell handmade and craft products.

Fruugo

Based in the UK, Fruugo is available to shoppers in 32 countries, 17 languages and 22 currencies.

Fruugo operates on a “no sale, no fee” basis, simply charging a commission when a customer buys their products.

Fyndiq

Fyndiq is a Swedish marketplace that has over 2 million average monthly visitors.

The marketplace focuses on bargain shoppers. The average selling price on Fyndiq is less than £20. There are no listing, setup or monthly fees. Commission fees start at 10% plus a fixed product fee.

The most popular categories include fashion and accessories, health and beauty products, toys, home & living and gifts.

Game

Game is a UK based marketplace offering products in gaming, media, computer hardware or toys and collectables sector.

With over 4 million active users, the marketplace has grown dramatically over the years and processes thousands of orders every month.

Mobile.de

Mobile.de is an e-commerce site based in Germany. The marketplace is dedicated to the buying and selling of automobiles through the classified advertising format online.

Every month, the marketplace draws 13.5 million visitors who can choose from over 1.6 million vehicles.

Okazii.ro

Okazii is a Romanian marketplace that sells over 3000 products daily.

With more than 3 million average monthly visitors, the marketplace is the best to be considered if you want to reach Romanian customers.

Okazii marketplace doesn’t charge any membership fee. You only have to pay listing fee which is €0.01 and trading commission fee that ranges between 2% and 6.6% depending upon the category.

Onbuy

Launched in 2016, Onbuy is one of the newest marketplaces in the UK. With more than 8 million products listed on its platform, Onbuy has grown rapidly.

The marketplace spans multiple sectors including cars, clothing, health & beauty, tech, and toys.

Onbuy offers a ‘Sales Guarantee’ policy to every standard seller account holder. If any seller makes less than £500 in sales in a month, their subscription fee for next month is waived off.

Otto

Otto is a German marketplace that has over 9 million active customers.

To register yourself as a seller, you’ll need a minimum of 100 product lines, a proven track record in ecommerce and an established business.

The marketplace charges one-off registration fee of €10k. The commissions vary from 15% to 50% depending on the category.

With revenue of over €7.7 billion in FY2018, OTTO represents the biggest ecommerce opportunity in Germany after Amazon.

Pixmania

Created in 2000, Pixmania is a French marketplace that has over 10 million active users.

The marketplace focuses on hi-tech goods, such as watches, cameras, computing, home appliances, toys and gadgets.

Along with France, Pixmania has a presence in 13 countries including the UK, Spain, Italy, Germany and Poland.

Real.de

Real.de is a German marketplace that focuses on 40+ categories including electronics, domestic appliances, toys and clothing.

A seller is required to have their main office in the EU or Switzerland and small unregistered companies will be refused.

With more than 2.6 million active customers, Real.de maintains strict requirements regarding customer service.

Zalando

Zalando is a German marketplace that now has a presence in 15 countries including the UK, Finland, Denmark, France, and Poland.

The marketplace has over 26.4 million customers and sells more than 250,000 products across multiple categories.

Alibaba

Alibaba is a leading Chinese B2B marketplace with more than 600 million active customers buying from 190+ countries.

The annual cost of selling on the marketplace starts from $1,399 for a Gold Supplier Basic Package. In addition, there is a service fee of 1-2% for order amounts exceeding $5,000.

AliExpress

AliExpress is Alibaba Group’s retail marketplace, unlike Alibaba which is meant for wholesale trade.

The marketplace has over 60 million active customers buying from 230+ countries worldwide. There are over 600 million visits on AliExpress a month.

AliExpress is second to Amazon in terms of international ecommerce. With such a huge potential, you should consider selling on AliExpress to reach international customers.

Ezbuy

Ezbuy is the leading shopping platform for more than 3 million customers from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.

Founded in 2010, Ezbuy has expanded its marketplace from China to USA, Taiwan, Korea and Local.

Flipkart
