Above the Fold: Supply Chain Logistics News (February 21, 2020)

How’s my week been?

I’m a little poorer, but no broken bones.

I skied down a mountain,
I skied through a forest,
I skated ovals on ice
without falling down.

I made it to Friday, a little poorer
but with no broken bones.

I am visiting my daughter in college today.

Maybe we’ll roll a ball toward wooden pins,
Or watch Moonrise Kingdom again, this time

Maybe we’ll understand it.

It’s been a week of laughs, a week of turning pages in a book;
A week of working on a puzzle, then searching for the missing piece.

It’s been a week with no broken bones, the best kind of week.

How’s your week been?

Back at home, here’s the supply chain and logistics news that caught my attention this week:

Since I’m short on time this morning, I’ll just highlight Transplace’s announced partnership with Feeding America, the largest domestic hunger-relief organization in the United States. Here are some details from the press release:

Transplace is donating $150,000 to Feeding America and is supporting them from a technology and services standpoint, including a project on how to optimally create and deliver a new hub that will serve as a distribution center in Northern California. Feeding America, the California Association of Food Banks, Northern California food banks and partner agencies will gain unprecedented logistics visibility and expertise to support solutions that will help address the issue of hunger in America by leveraging Transplace’s advanced logistics technologies, proprietary Transportation Management System (TMS), and the power and intelligence of Transplace’s $9 billion freight under management.

This news caught my attention because Feeding America is also one of the five charities our Indago members support. Last year, our members donated almost $4,000 to charities, including Feeding America.

Therefore, if you’re interested in supporting Feeding America, here’s another way to do it: join Indago today. It is confidential, there is no cost to join, and the time commitment is minimal. It’s a win-win value proposition: our members receive valuable market research that helps them make smarter business decisions, while our charity partners receive valuable donations that help them make an extraordinary difference in lives every day.

And with that, have a happy weekend!
