RELEX Retail and Supply Chain Award 2016 Granted to Store Operations Research in the Fast Fashion Industry

RELEX Solutions’ annual Retail and Supply Chain Award is given to the best European master’s thesis in the field of retail and supply chain planning. The award has been handed out since 2014 and is given to the best master’s thesis with a focus on retail and supply chain planning.

This year, the award was given to Aleksandra Korościk and Santiago Gomez from Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden for their research ‘Improvement of Store Operations in the fast fashion industry’.

Korościk and Gomez impressed the jury with their outstanding research focusing on improving store operations in the fashion context. The jury included Prof. Dr. Kai Förstl from the German Graduate School of Management & Law, Professor, Jan Holmström from Aalto University, RELEX Solutions Chairman of the Board, Andrew Blatherwick, and leading logistics and supply chain scientists from RELEX Solutions.

The jury was impressed with the robust work: “The research is highly ambitious with a global scope, thorough method and rich interviews. Korościk and Gomez have been able to make a sincere evaluation for possibilities of RFID and the integration of different processes and technologies in the fast fashion industry.”

Korościk and Gomez received the Retail and Supply Chain Award and a reward of 2000 euros at RELEX’s annual Stockholm seminar on the 3rd of May 2017. Korościk and Gomez also presented their research to more than 150 retail and supply chain experts attending the seminar in Stockholm.

“We are honored to be granted the award for the best master’s thesis written in Europe in 2016,” says Korościk and Gomez. “It was a pleasure to present our findings at the RELEX Stockholm seminar and we’re really proud to be able to contribute to improvements for retailers’ store operations.”
