Women leaders from ATD, RAJA, and TireHub among the executives elevating supply chains for competitive advantage

BOSTON and MILAN (Sept. 21, 2021) – ToolsGroup, a global leader in supply chain planning software, is proud to announce that ToolsGroup customers Sarah Voorhees, senior director of demand and supply planning at American Tire Distributors (ATD); Michela Vesta, supply chain project manager officer at RAJA Italia (RAJA Group); and Nancy Triplett, director of supply chain at TireHub, were winners of Supply & Demand Chain Executive’s 2021 Women in Supply Chain award.

The Women in Supply Chain award honors female supply chain leaders and executives whose accomplishments, mentorship and examples set a foundation for women in all levels of a company’s supply chain network. This year’s list includes individuals from software and service providers, consultancies and academia, trucking and transportation firms, professional development agencies, sourcing and procurement divisions, and more, all who have helped supply chain clients and the supply chain community at large prepare to meet many of today’s—and tomorrow’s—challenges.

Sarah Voorhees has spent the last 12 years of her career in supply chain leadership roles, where she’s reimagined demand and supply planning and inventory management practices at consumer goods and distribution companies. She is passionate about driving connectivity and efficiency across the end to end supply chain that meet both customer expectations and maximize profits across the value chain. Sarah is a valued member of the American Tire Distributors (ATD) supply chain team, where she currently serves as the senior director of demand and supply planning.

Michela Vesta has consistently and effectively demonstrated her leadership and commitment to supply chain agility and resilience at RAJA, which distributes more than 5,000 packaging and office supply products to 100,000 customers throughout Italy. It began with optimizing the use of ToolsGroup supply chain planning software to improve RAJA’s customer service levels. In addition, Michela developed an accurate analysis of procurement, and implemented reporting on lost sales and inventory management. She continued her transformative work by optimizing transportation management, diversifying suppliers, and allocating shipments to provide the highest customer service at the lowest cost to the company. In 2020, RAJA experienced exceptional demand increases of up to 45%. Thanks in part to Michela’s improvements, the company still managed to guarantee 99+% product availability level.

Nancy Triplett has three decades of experience in demand and product forecasting, both globally and domestically. Her distinguished career began with a planning manager role at Kimberly-Clark, where she would go on to work for nearly 23 years. Nancy also served as supply chain director at Newell Brands, where she led the design and development of e-commerce supply chain strategies. Since joining TireHub in 2019, Nancy has steadily transformed the way the team completes their work moving from spreadsheets and disconnected and reactive information flows to a connected demand and supply plan leveraging higher level analytical tools and critical thinking. Adoption of ToolsGroup was initiated in mid-2019 and continues today, resulting in step changes in in-stock service, when product is available, improved demand forecast accuracy and more meaningful conversations with both suppliers and customers to jointly solve problems to serve TireHub’s customers and employees.

“These women are just absolutely amazing in so many ways. They’ve re-tooled, re-innovated and revamped how the world sees the supply chain and logistics industry. They’ve paved the way for future female supply chain leaders to become a part of an industry that matters. Because women in the supply chain matter. And, some of these women are young, which means, they’re just getting started,” says Marina Mayer, Editor-in-Chief of Supply & Demand Chain Executive and Food Logistics. “I’m honored to recognize and celebrate the achievements of so many female supply chain leaders.”
