On February 27, 2014, the US House of Representatives Subcommittee had a public hearing to discuss the issue of counterfeit drugs and the underlying illegal supply chains.  The illegal supply chains for producing and selling counterfeit and stolen drugs are growing rapidly and profitably world-wide.

Countries covered by the new rules in addition to the DRC include South Sudan, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Angola, the Republic of the Congo and the Central African Republic. First specialized disclosure report to be filed on May 31, 2014 (for the 2013 calendar year) and annually on May 31 every year thereafter.
