On the top 100 van lanes, February volumes so far have outpaced both 2017 and 2018, and the number of lanes with higher rates versus lower rates was fairly balanced last week. Out West, Denver to Oklahoma City added 14¢ at $1.38/mile. The good news is that volumes have been firming up this month.

Van rates drop to 16-month low

The last time the average van rate was below $2 per mile was 16 months ago, in September 2017. Denver to Oklahoma City rates rose 13¢ to $1.34/mile. Last week the national average van rate dropped 4¢ to $1.97/mile. And rates out of Denver are holding up, for the second week in a row.
