As part of our growing relationship with the trucking industry, BR Williams Trucking (BR Williams) has committed to investing in its employees’ safety on the roads by adopting the 43 Key Seconds safe driving initiative to ensure employees and their loved ones have a clear head, clear hands, clear eyes, and click their seatbelts before turning the key. BR Williams Trucking, headquartered in Oxford, Alabama, is a full-service supply chain solutions and freight management company. They aim to provide its customers with the highest level of supply chain services while providing a safe and rewarding workplace environment for its employees. 43 Key Seconds

September marks the start of a busy fall with school and businesses back in full swing after a summer to recharge. BR Williams uses the month of September as its internal employee appreciation month. Driver safety is always top-of-mind for BR Williams. By adopting the 43 Key Seconds safe driving initiative, BR Williams looks to further protect its truck drivers and emphasizes its desire to ensure all employees and loved ones prioritize safety behind the wheel. As part of its driver safety measures, before allowing a truck driver to get on the road, BR Williams drivers undergo a stringent system of training and testing to ensure they have the most competent drivers and that these drivers uphold the integrity of BR Williams on and off the road. BR Williams corporate, shop, and warehouse employees are also held to the same standard. BR Williams leadership is continually monitoring its processes and procedures. By adding 43 Key Seconds to its driver safety initiatives, the organization not only enhances the priority of safety first to save lives but also to help its bottom line.

Distracted, impaired, and unsafe driving crashes and fatalities affect a company’s bottom line. According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OHSA), motor vehicle crashes cost employers $60 billion annually in medical care, legal expenses, property damage, and lost productivity. According to the National Traffic Safety Administration, the average crash costs an employer $16,500. When a worker has an on-the-job crash that results in an injury, the cost to their employer is $74,000. Costs can exceed $500,000 when a fatality is involved. Off-the-job crashes are costly to employers as well. BR Williams is proving that 43 Key Seconds make it possible to integrate 43 Key Seconds into their core operating strategies (enhancing their safety culture), benefitting their businesses, employees, and employee families while embracing societal concerns (creating a new cause – assisting in creating safer roadways) impacting their customers and communities they serve.
