From January 28 to February 4, a Chinese-operated high-altitude balloon was seen in North American airspace, including Alaska, western Canada, and the contiguous United States. Last year’s negotiations took place as dozens of container ships were backed up off the coast of California waiting to unload cargo.

A couple of weeks ago I wrote an article outlining how cargo theft is on the rise. In the United States alone, cargo theft is a $15 to $35 billion industry. While cargo theft as a whole has increased 57 percent year-over-year, strategic theft has increased 600 percent from November to March.

Cyberattacks: The Ever-Present Threat to Transportation Management Software

Ports in the United States, the Netherlands, India and Spain were unable to accept cargo and had to shut down systems after the breach. In the Maersk attack, ships off the coast of Anchorage, Alaska were unable to deliver necessary goods like milk and groceries. Maersk operates 76 ports through its AMP Terminals division.
