That led to an increase on the lane from Seattle to Salt Lake City , as an alternative to bringing in supplies from Denver. Seattle to Salt Lake City moved up to $1.90/mi. We saw some spikes in prices out of Chicago two weeks ago as a result of that blast of Arctic weather, but those rates started to fall back to earth last week. Chicago to Detroit was down 22¢ at $3.13/mile. Chicago to Columbus lost 12¢ at $2.79/mile. Stockton, CA to Portland, OR, was up 13¢ to $2.63.

L.A. freight gets a tailwind from hurricanes and typhoons

Denver to Albuquerque got a 7¢ increase, to $2.18/mile. On the down side, some lanes out of Chicago had big drops last week. It wasn't just Chicago, either. Looks like there are a lot of empty trucks in the Midwest: Chicago to Buffalo plunged 20¢ to $2.92/mile. Chicago to Dallas dropped 18¢ to $2.17/mile.

Van Rates Respond to Seasonal Slowdown
