Spot Truckload Rates Continue a Slow-and-Steady Climb

One more 9¢ drop: Denver to Albuquerque fell to $1.66/mile. The seasonal shift is now up to the Huron district in the Fresno market, which is expected to move about 650 loads of head lettuce a week. Buffalo was mostly neutral last week, and volumes were up sharply in Denver. Houston to OKC dropped 9¢ to $1.80/mile

That combination boosted the load-to-truck ratio 33%, to 5.7 loads per truck. There were lots of Hot Markets for reefers last week, including: Spokane, WA. Twin Falls, ID. Sioux Falls, SD. Rock Island, IL.

These "hot markets" may pay above-average rates for reefers: Albuquerque, NM; Lubbock, TX; Fayetteville, AR; Memphis and Nashville, TN; Cape Girardeau, MO; and Evansville, IN. Outbound rates even lost 6¢ per mile in Fresno, CA, a major reefer market where freight availability was on the upswing last week.
