Van Rates Might Be Close to the Bottom, if They Aren't There Already

California, Arizona, and Idaho generally have robust winter volumes, but those key markets have been soft so far this year. Grand Rapids, MI to Cleveland lost 31¢ at $3.02/mile. Denver to Phoenix slippedâ–¼13¢ to $1.08/mile. Denver to Dallas also fell 12¢ to only $1.01/mile. Miami to Elizabeth, NJ , surged 35¢ to $1.84/mile.

Spring Came Early in These Freight Markets

Grand Rapids to Cleveland jumped up â–²50¢ to $3.34/mile. Phoenix and Las Vegas volumes have been low, which is indicative of statewide trends in Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico. Cleveland has also been a little softer than other major flatbed markets this winter. Dallas to Columbus was up â–²21¢ to $1.70/mile.
