About this role

Cognira is seeking an Account Executive to join our high-growth startup. We are looking for an independent, go-getter, who is looking for an opportunity to join a software business and play a key role within our sales team. 

This role will focus on generating new sales revenue within North America from selling Cognira’s software solutions. As one of the first members of the Cognira sales team, the Account Executive will have broad responsibilities across the entire sales cycle and play a role in building out the team and sales processes. They will be responsible for account planning, funnel building, pipeline management, target setting, customer prospecting and business development. 

This position will leverage industry knowledge, consumer insights, understand the competitive landscape and work closely with cross-functional teams. 

What you will do

  • Identify customer prospect and develop targeting strategies
  • Work with the sales team and leadership to develop / refine sales plans to fulfill the growth and revenue goals of the organization.
  • Create new sales opportunities — Funnel building and pipeline management
  • Respond to RFPs 
  • Achieve personal and company sales targets
  • Provides strategic market insights into product development
  • Work closely with the senior leadership and product team for pricing strategies, product rollout and converting sales opportunities. 
  • Manage pipeline and provide updates and feedback to senior leadership 
  • Assist the marketing team with developing & executing marketing strategies along with goals and measurable KPIs
  • Develop short- and long-term marketing plans to reach goals. This will include brand & promotion strategy as well as lead generation. 
  • Provide leadership and direction to the sales team

  • BA/BS or equivalent.  
  • Sales and business development experience 
  • Proven ability to prospect and generate opportunities 
  • Experience working with CRM tools and other sales support software tools
  • Understanding of enterprise sales processes 
  • Ability to work cross-functionally — Demand generation, marketing and product. 
  • Energetic and detail oriented
  • Experience developing sales strategies
  • Excellent communication and writing skills

Would be great but not needed

  • Master degree — MBA 
  • 3+ years of sales / business development experience
  • Previous experience selling software B2B 
  • Previous experience hiring and developing a SaaS sales team 
  • Retail domain knowledge
  • Grocery experience 
  • Start-up experience 
  • Experience building taking products to market
