Van rates rose sharply last week in Los Angeles and Stockton , and rates are rising in Dallas and Houston , although they’re still not great. On the West Coast, look for loads in Los Angeles , where outbound rates rose another 7¢ per mile last week. The lane from Raleigh to Baltimore paid $2.75/mile

Other warm-weather markets also got a boost last week, including Los Angeles , where outbound rates rose an average of 5¢, and Phoenix , where a big increase in freight volume led to an 18¢ jolt. Rates from Sacramento to Los Angeles rose by double digits, in both directions last week, to a roundtrip average of $2.15
