October Flatbed Rates Were Highest of the Year

The Memphis market posted the biggest gains for October, with outbound flatbed rates up 10%. Atlanta rates were down in general, but the lane to Baltimore climbed to $2.95/mile The biggest declines for the month were on lanes out of Raleigh and Baltimore. Lots of major flatbed lanes were at or near $3/mile last week.

Flatbed freight regains footing in December

Raleigh and Las Vegas made gains in the past week, while volumes have been above par for the month in Memphis and Houston. FALLING Seasonally, we expect cold weather to lead to lower flatbed rates and volumes, and that was true for Baltimore last week. Spring surge delayed again

Atlanta to Memphis gained 7¢ to $1.64/mi. Memphis to Atlanta moved down 15¢ to $2.31/mi. Lakeland to Baltimore was down 20¢ to $1.68/mi. Freight volumes were higher coming out of both Los Angeles and Atlanta , but it wasn't enough to boost rates. Still it's a hopeful sign that things are moving toward normality.

Flatbed Rates Hold Steady at 2-Year Highs

WHAT'S HOT – Rates were on the rise last week in two Atlantic seaport markets: Baltimore and Jacksonville. Two Southeastern freight hubs, Atlanta and Memphis , also got a big boost. Instead, there were almost 50% more loads last week than the week before, and rates are holding up at the highest levels in two years.
