October Flatbed Rates Were Highest of the Year

Atlanta rates were down in general, but the lane to Baltimore climbed to $2.95/mile Flatbed rates were down out of a handful of Sunbelt markets: Atlanta, Savannah, Fort Worth, and Phoenix. The biggest declines for the month were on lanes out of Raleigh and Baltimore. Phoenix to Ontario, CA , was also down, at $1.81/mile.

Flatbed rates and volumes move upward

Plenty of flatbed markets in the South and East experienced rising prices, including Birmingham, Tampa, Atlanta, Savannah, Raleigh, Harrisburg, Dallas and Phoenix. Phoenix to El Paso, TX gained 32¢ to $2.08/mi. Baltimore to Springfield, MA slid 21¢ to $4.04/mi. Atlanta to Houston increased 26¢ to $2.33/mi.

Flatbed Markets Adjust to Holidays, Regulations, and Weather

Flatbed freight out of Baltimore usually heads to the Northeast and Midwest, and the weather in those regions made those shipments more difficult. That pushed Baltimore rates up 10% higher last week as a result. Southwest markets like Los Angeles and Phoenix were also strong in December.
