The Panamanian government decided to enlarge the Panama Canal in 2006. The canal would primarily help Thailand, Burma, Cambodia, and Vietnam because their maritime trade would have more pronounced time and cost savings while shipment. The Turkish government outlawed the usage of the crossing by massive tankers at night in 2002.
