Spot market demand heats up out West

Last week saw strong movements out of Baltimore, Fort Worth, Cleveland and Savannah. Roanoke to Cleveland gained 54¢ to $2.67/mi. Cleveland to Milwaukee increased 50¢ to $4.38/mi. Flatbed markets have been up and down for the past month or more. Falling Rates. Rock Island to Indianapolis dropped 53¢ $2.91/mi.

Reefer Capacity Gets Tighter Ahead of Thanksgiving

The biggest spike was the lane from Chicago to Kansas City , which surged 49¢ up to $3.10/mile. The biggest drop-off last week was the lane from Grand Rapids to Cleveland , which plunged 54¢ to $3.16/mile. Of the top 72 reefer lanes, 39 had rising rates, while 33 lanes were down. Chicago to Denver soared 27¢ to $3.17/mile.

Reefers still waiting for spring

Grand Rapids to Cleveland was down 31¢ to $3.83/mi. Chicago to Kansas City slid 19¢ to $2.08/mi. In the Southwest, the lane from Nogales to Dallas lost strength, but the rest of the really big price drops were on lanes originating in the Midwest: Nogales to Dallas lost fell 15¢ to $2.41/mi.
