For van freight, we’re starting to see hot markets shift westward, with big rate increases out of Seattle, Los Angeles, Denver and Stockton, CA. Buffalo to Columbus climbed 28¢ to $2.57. Spot Market Freight Rates Soar After Hurricane Harvey

Rates rose in Columbus , as well, as population centers in the Northeast are receiving more freight from that direction. Denver to Houston rose 59¢ to $1.63 per mile, the biggest weekly jump ever on an outbound Denver lane. Out of the Midwest, Columbus to Allentown, PA jumped up 31¢ to $3.12 FALLING LANES.

Van freight stabilizes in early October

Here are two lanes worth noting: Denver to Oklahoma City jumped 12¢ to a not-so-hot $1.43/mile. Traditional backhaul markets like Denver and Seattle held up, and Los Angeles continued to see price increases over the past month. Elsewhere: Dallas to Denver plunged 24¢ to $2.40/mile. Los Angeles to Denver also increased 14¢ to $3.21/mile. Out East, Buffalo to Columbus recovered 21¢ to hit $2.21/mile. Columbus to Memphis rates declined 13¢ to $1.85/mile. Both the Seattle and Los Angeles markets saw some double digit rate increases: Seattle to Eugene, OR moved up 26¢ to $2.88/mile.
