In 2004, the Fed’s dollarisation strategy was starting to have an effect on the local currencies against the USD. They were buying or producing all their materials in The Netherlands, shipping them to low-cost countries like Hungary, Romania and Ukraine for manufacturing and then shipping the products back to The Netherlands for distribution.
