Rates and Demand Are Still High for Refrigerated Freight

Sacramento to Denver gained 29¢ at $2.55/mile. Florida rates continued to slide: Miami to Atlanta dropped 40¢ to $1.29/mile, Reefer load counts got a big boost along the Mexican border in Nogales, AZ and McAllen, TX. Reefer rates on the lane from Sacramento to Portland soared 70¢ to $3.42/mile.

Chicago prices also continued to climb: Chicago to Denver added 38¢ at $3.05/mile. Atlanta to Miami was down 22¢ to $3.43/mile. Columbus to Allentown, PA , surged 50¢ to an average of $3.86/mile. Columbus to Memphis climbed 37¢ to $2.28/mile. Chicago to Buffalo was up 37¢ to $3.27/mile.

The lane from Sacramento to Denver paid 24¢ better on average, at $2.63/mile. Miami to Elizabeth, NJ , fell 27¢ to $2.10/mile. Grand Rapids to Cleveland also rose 24¢ to $3.35/mile. Rates slipped in Ontario , CA, but the northern part of the Golden State is in play. That paid $2.19/mile mile on average last week.
