Spot Market Freight Rates Soar After Hurricane Harvey

Denver to Houston rose 59¢ to $1.63 per mile, the biggest weekly jump ever on an outbound Denver lane. Chicago to Denver rates rose 22¢ to $2.72 Of course, the biggest disruptions were down in Texas, and the big changes largely mirrored van trends. Denver to Houston reefer rates also rose 63¢ to $2.53

Spot market settles after Hurricane Florence

Rates were up out of Denver , and the lane to Houston rose 17¢ -- but the average was still just $1.50/mile. Texas has been quiet in recent weeks, but the lane from Houston to Oklahoma City rose 14¢ to $2.26/mile. The biggest increase was from Buffalo to Allentown, PA , which added 22¢ to an average of $3.36/mile.

The lane from Sacramento to Denver paid 24¢ better on average, at $2.63/mile. Texas is still ahead of California for reefer load availability, but the gap is narrowing.
