We define the market as those warehouse automation providers responsible for delivery of the system to the end-user (to eliminate double-counting). Looking back, I estimated the market in 2013 at $6.4 billion in 2019.

Amazon plans to build delivery robot tech in Finland. Amazon has announced that it plans to develop new technology for its autonomous delivery vehicles in Helsinki, Finland. Venues outside the greater Tokyo metropolitan area would allow small numbers of spectators, and the policy for the Paralympics will be decided next month.

In The Netherlands, cigarette manufacturer Philip Morris is closing its factory in Bergen op Zoom and AkzoNobel has decided to phase out its production of organic peroxides in Deventer by the end of 2016. In Belgium, the Ford factory in Genk will soon close for good, as will the Heinz manufacturing facility in Turnhout.

China’s logistics industry is gaining in importance and developing rapidly to support the nation’s manufacturing sector. While China has gained a reputation as a cost effective place for manufacturing, logistical costs (about 18% of the cost of sales) in the country are still very high compared to other developed countries.
