October Flatbed Rates Were Highest of the Year

Las Vegas to Sacramento averaged $3.19/mile. Flatbed rates were down out of a handful of Sunbelt markets: Atlanta, Savannah, Fort Worth, and Phoenix. Lots of major flatbed lanes were at or near $3/mile last week. All rates below include fuel surcharges and are based on real transactions between brokers and carriers.

Load Volume and Rates Move in Opposite Directions

Rates trended up in Houston, a major flatbed market, as well as secondary markets including Las Vegas, NV; Fort Worth, TX; Cleveland, OH; and Tampa, FL. Flatbed load availability dipped 2% last week , but the national average rate increased by 2¢ per mile on the spot market, despite a decline in the fuel surcharge.
