Q1 2023 Freight Forwarding Market Overview & Outlook
It’s been a while since I last looked into the freight forwarding market, but with all the post-pandemic market changes, I decided to do so, similar to what I did for the parcel & last mile market in early April.
Consider this overview/outlook as a test, so thoughts and suggestions are welcomed - I’ll be sure to add to the Q2 overview & outlook in a couple of months or so.
In a nutshell, the market is experiencing declines in revenue and volume but is still expanding, investing, and more.
Access the presentation here. It’s in a PDF format, but if you need the plain PowerPoint presentation and/or if you have any trouble accessing it or have questions, just let me know. (croberson@LogisticsTI.com).

I wear a number of hats these days. Catch my twice-a-week column on air cargo, freight forwarding, and the express markets, as well as a monthly podcast on Air Cargo Next. I’m also helping out the Reverse Logistics Association as a research manager, and at JOC, I help out as a research analyst and write a weekly LinkedIn article, Freight Forward, summarizing JOC and other articles and providing an outlook for the week ahead.
This month I’ll be moderating a Women in Reverse Logistics webinar hosted by RLA and hosting a Logistics Brief webinar - Elephant in the Supply Chain: Managing Returns in an Environment of Uncertainty.
In June, I’ll be moderating a Home Delivery World session, Mitigating costs and complexity in the returns process, and I’ll be moderating a session at SMC3’s Connections 2023 conference - Making the Unreasonable Reasonable.
