Sun Belt States are Hot for Seasonal Freight

Freight markets are heating up in the Sun Belt. Flatbeds saw rising freight volume and rates in the Southwest and a handful of Southeastern markets. Flatbed freight is strongest in the Southeast region, but not in the usual locations. Other warm-weather markets also got a boost last week, including Los Angeles , where outbound rates rose an average of 5¢, and Phoenix , where a big increase in freight volume led to an 18¢ jolt.

Van and Reefer Operators Give Thanks for Rate Increases

Outbound rates increased in key California markets, including Sacramento, where rates rose 14¢ last week, to an average of $2.20 Twin Falls, Idaho is a great source for outbound reefer loads, prior to Thanksgiving. Rates are derived from DAT RateView and are based on actual rate agreements between freight brokers and carriers, in 65,000 point-to-point lanes throughout the U.S. Thanks in part to seasonal food items, rates are finally trending back up for vans and reefers.
