Seattle to Salt Lake City lost 18¢ at $2.18, with fewer imports hitting the Seattle port. Nationwide, truck load volumes declined 10%, largely due to the storm.

Ryder Acquires Whiplash, Expands Network

Flatbed rates move lower, but they're still pretty high

Flatbed Markets Continue to Boom

Gains out of Las Vegas and Jacksonville, FL , suggest that construction equipment and material are on the move. A couple lanes with falling prices: Reno to Seattle was down 98¢ to $2.41/mile, mile, a sign that lumber shipments out of the Seattle area are balancing things out. Roanoke to Baltimore soared to $3.58/mile.

Major Freight Markets Saw Biggest Rate Surge of the Year

In general, markets that feed into the Northeast were up, while Denver, Seattle , and rates coming out of the Northeast were down. And even Seattle had a regional spike: Rates on the lane to Eugene, OR, were up 23¢ to $2.31/mile. Rates were up on 70 of the top 100 van lanes. Atlanta to Memphis paid 22¢ better at $1.93/mile.

Seattle to Eugene, OR also slipped 11¢ to $2.17/mile. Outbound rates trended down last month in Savannah, Jacksonville and Los Angeles. Volumes dropped off in Allentown, PA , after getting a big boost the week before. There were more loads available out of Chicago , but not on the lane to Buffalo.
