Rates and Demand Are Still High for Refrigerated Freight

Fresno to Seattle was up 30¢ to $2.80/mile. Chicago to Kansas City also had a big increase at $3.48/mile, Reefer load counts got a big boost along the Mexican border in Nogales, AZ and McAllen, TX. Reefer rates on the lane from Sacramento to Portland soared 70¢ to $3.42/mile. Sacramento to Denver gained 29¢ at $2.55/mile.

Spot market demand heats up out West

Seattle is the closest U.S. Outbound volumes from Seattle were up by double digits. Those increases in truck freight were small compared to Seattle’s, which tells us that we could see a surge of van freight out of California this week and next. Seattle to Salt Lake City gained 13¢ to $1.84/mi.
