Whilst the coffee beans have become well-known in Rwanda and have been enjoyed by many, the coffee farmers, wanted to take their coffee beans to the next level. Fuelled by their previous successes, the farmers wanted to export the beans outside of Rwanda, so that coffee-lovers around the world could enjoy a delicious cup.

The company has developed a fleet of last mile drones for small package delivery in the US, Australia, and Finland. Recently, Wing has developed a fleet of new drone prototypes designed to more efficiently deliver packages ranging from small pill bottles to items weighing as much as 7 pounds.

Amazingly their blood delivery drone operation in Rwanda distributes 70% of that nation’s blood. Zipline’s fixed wing UAV delivery systems in Rwanda are moving at 100 kilometers per hour with no stop lights. On the panel was a company named Zipline, which is based in Silicon Valley. It’s not all about blood either.

The company was founded in 2014 in San Francisco and made its first flights delivering blood in Rwanda in 2016. It’s currently being used by sweetgreen, Michigan Medicine, MultiCare Health Systems, Intermountain Health and the government of Rwanda. By 2025, Zipline states, it will be operating more flights than most major U.S.
