In addition, the United States has several permanently inhabited territories, including Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the U.S. to easily import and export goods anywhere in the world, and its open borders between states make it simple to ship goods across the country. The last two states added were Alaska and Hawaii in 1959.
