Breaking up is always hard to do but sometimes it’s just time to move on! No, I’m not talking about personal relationships but something that’s almost as complex and challenging – Supply Chain Planning!

Many companies today are still using spreadsheets as a core planning system for their supply chain planning processes. Why not? They’re cheap, everyone has familiarity with them, and they’re easy to use. Well, that last point is perhaps a bit of a misnomer. Yes, spreadsheets can be easy to use if you have simple problems but there is nothing simple about today’s supply chains. Even before the disruptions of the last few years, I would argue that spreadsheets were already out of their depth; today though, it’s definitely time to find a new partner.
