Amazon has come under a lot of scrutiny for alleged workforce injuries at its Fulfillment Centers, but mostly from very pro-labor sources, leaving some questions relative to the fairness of the analysis.

Amazon has consistently denied its workers have more injuries than other distribution operations.

But now a new study with a bit more credibilty basically finds the same trend as in the previous critiques - and that new analysis was in fact performed by The Washington Post - owned by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos!

The chart below from the Post article shows analysis several years of OSHA data and finds that Amazon does have significantly higher rates of serious injuries than the average DC:

The Amazon numbers did come way down in 2020 - but still saw almost double the average rate.

Are unrealististic productivity expecations at Amazon a factor in this injury delta? Some say Yes - but that is far from sure. But it does look like something is going on.
