Sephora Expands Same-Day Delivery with Shipt

Sephora store feature

Sephora continues to expand same-day delivery of its popular beauty and wellness products to customers’ doors, providing service in as little as an hour thanks to a new partnership with delivery service Shipt, which is owned by Target.

The beauty retailer had already struck a same-day delivery deal last year with Instacart, on top of its own Beauty on Demand service, which utilizes local couriers and charges a flat fee of $6.95. Free delivery is being offering by Shipt for a limited time through a promo code.

According to a Shipt blog announcing the news, Sephora is the first national beauty retailer to join its platform, which serves 140 retailers. The service is available from nearly all of its 500 U.S. stores. By comparison, Ulta’s new same-day delivery service is available from 200 of its 1,264 U.S. stores.

In addition to Ulta – which in an interesting twist is expanding its partnership with Target – other Sephora competitors include Sally Beauty, Birchbox, Estee Lauder, L’Occitane and department store chains like Macy’s and Nordstrom with extensive beauty counters.

Sephora meanwhile appears to be doing its part to boost results at Kohl’s, which may be looking for a buyer as activists turn up the heat, through 200 store-in-store locations.

“For Sephora, this new venture with Shipt marks a thrilling time as we share our commitment to delivering an exceptional client experience in a world where consumer needs are ever-changing,” Carolyn Bojanowski, SVP and GM of ecommerce for Sephora, said in the blog post. “As we continue to cater our offerings to meet our clients’ unique needs, it was important to us to find a partner who not only had the potential to help expand our reach to new-to-Sephora clients, but also support our current clients and new ways of experiencing beauty retail today.”
