Muslim (majority) countries in Asia (such as Brunei, Indonesia, and Malaysia) and several countries in the Middle East are moving to stage 3: the halal supply chain. In other words, halal requires an organisation of the supply chain instead of just the factory: from source all the way up to point of consumer purchase.

Also Malaysia has dedicated halal parks, 22 in total, supported by halal park guidelines and incentives. The halal trust of a brand is measured through a consumer survey, analysing the consumer perception of the halal logo, excellence, transparency, halal authenticity, and intention.

The Freightos Baltic Index Global Container Freight Index shows the cost of shipping freight remains hugely elevated – more than double the price a year earlier. In fact, global freight rates have increased tenfold since the start of the pandemic. Brand loyalty is no longer the driver for consumer purchasing decisions.

Secondly, global freight rates have seen an enormous increase over the past 12-months, which are unlikely to return soon to the rates before Covid. Sea freight and airfreight costs have become very expensive. Freight forwarding and customs clearance will likely be replaced by artificial intelligence in the coming years.

Bed Bath & Beyond @BedBathBeyond Bed Bath & Beyond has discovered a way to save millions of dollars on freight over the next few years, thanks to a new 755,000 square-foot distribution facility slated to open in the fall of 2019. The new facility will allow the company to offer two-day shipping to most (about 90%) of the U.S.
