Amazon has a long way to go, as the company says its operations emitted about 71 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent in 2022, up by almost 40 percent since Jeff Bezos’s 2019 vow that his company would eventually stop contributing to the emissions warming the planet.

More than 12 million people are in need of humanitarian aid as a result of the civil war raging in Syria. According to a recent UNHCR report , nearly 60 million people were forcibly displaced in 2014 from countries such as Iraq, Eritrea, and Afghanistan. Of those 60 million people, 19.5 million were refugees.
