SAP purchased Ariba in 2012 for 4.2B$, and the company has been slow to actualize the asset and drive incremental revenue. The Ariba infrastructure is so heavily entrenched in indirect procurement processes that it is hard to adapt to the solution to manage direct materials in the supply chain. I am not surprised.
