Ancient records show that the route stretched from Chan’an, China (present-day Xian) in the far east, through India, Persia, Arabia, and — by its sea routes — as far as Europe’s Mediterranean coasts. This will include a rail route stretching from Chongqing, China, through Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, and Poland to Duisburg in Germany.
