Improvements are slowly occurring, thanks to increased government funding (but corruption hampers many efforts). Only two countries in South America are landlocked, Paraguay and Bolivia. Roads remain the primary means of transportation, but 60% are unpaved, hampering the speed of delivery by truck to inland locations.
