Grand Rapids, MI , had a couple strong lanes despite an overall slip in volumes: Grand Rapids to Cleveland gained 50¢ at $4.12/mile.

Freight patterns showed increased retail trade ahead of Memorial Day weekend, and since some drivers finished the week up early ahead of the holiday weekend, capacity also tightened. Green Bay to Minneapolis slipped 20¢ to $1.99/mile, Cleveland finally joined the party too. Miami to Baltimore was up 35¢ to $2.63/mile.

Van moves between Columbus and Memphis are usually associated with retail, and unlike a lot of lane pairs, prices on those lanes tend to go up and down in tandem. Grand Rapids to Cleveland rose ▲29¢ to $3.31/mile. Denver to Phoenix is still a weak lane at $1.20/mile, mile, but that average is up ▲11¢ from the week before.
