Rates rise, but gains may be temporary

Truckload capacity remained tight during the first week of 2019, and national average rates increased 3¢ for vans, reefers and flatbeds. Denver to Albuquerque jumped 28¢ to $2.35/mile. However, rates declined on many of the highest volume lanes, so increases in the national averages could be temporary.
