During the conversation, he thanked me as an ex-Gartner analyst for putting Ariba on problem-watch in May 2001. Over the Memorial Day weekend, I stumbled on an old article that I wrote in 2001. The piece, “CPG/Retail E-Marketplaces: The Emperor’s New Clothes?” While there is work within SAP to rethink SNC and use the assets purchased with Ariba to build multi-tier capabilities, the progress is not encouraging.

On August 13th, Infor announced the intent to purchase GT Nexus for 675M$. The largest was the purchase of Lawson in 2011 for 2B$. The company branded as GT Nexus in 2001 and purchased Tradecard in 2013. GT Nexus began operations in 1998 using the name Tradiant. It is clear. I am not surprised.

The first presented in June 2001 outlined where we were in supply chain and what we needed to do. In 2001, we were in trouble, but in 2004, we had made a lot of progress. The actual retailer orders were different than the retailer forecasts. Staples was the first retailer to work with us on our new approach.
