Reefer capacity is tight and getting tighter, which adds to pressure on van capacity and rates in the same markets. California is also hot for reefers, with rates trending up in Ontario and Sacramento. Rates are up in some Sun Belt markets, however, including Dallas and Fort Worth.

The big Texas markets, primarily Houston , but also Dallas and Fort Worth , continue to be stable and reliable sources of flatbed loads. Rates from Sacramento to Los Angeles rose by double digits, in both directions last week, to a roundtrip average of $2.15 Reefers Gear Up for Produce Season.
