The Memphis market posted the biggest gains for October, with outbound flatbed rates up 10%. Las Vegas to Sacramento averaged $3.19/mile. Atlanta rates were down in general, but the lane to Baltimore climbed to $2.95/mile The biggest declines for the month were on lanes out of Raleigh and Baltimore.

Raleigh and Las Vegas made gains in the past week, while volumes have been above par for the month in Memphis and Houston. FALLING Seasonally, we expect cold weather to lead to lower flatbed rates and volumes, and that was true for Baltimore last week. Memphis to St. Birmingham to Chicago surged to $2.36/mile

Memphis to Atlanta was up 13¢ at an average of $2.23/mile. Miami to Baltimore also jumped up 21¢ to $1.75/mile. Atlanta to Raleigh added 39¢ to $2.39/mile. Out West, flatbed loads going from Las Vegas to Salt Lake Cit y rose 61¢ on average at $3.02/mile. mile, following a very strong March.

Volumes had the steepest declines in Atlanta and Houston , but Memphis van load counts spiked 13%. Atlanta to Memphis paid 22¢ better at $1.93/mile. Memphis to Columbus was up 17¢ to $1.94/mile. Miami to Baltimore was up 35¢ to $2.63/mile. Memphis to Dallas was also down 27¢ to $2.76/mile.
