Spot market settles after Hurricane Florence

Texas has been quiet in recent weeks, but the lane from Houston to Oklahoma City rose 14¢ to $2.26/mile. Atlanta to Charlott e fell 17¢ to $2.84/mile. Rates were up out of Denver , and the lane to Houston rose 17¢ -- but the average was still just $1.50/mile. Buffalo to Charlotte was down 24¢ at $2.44/mile.

Van freight stabilizes in early October

Still to be seen is whether the coming holiday season and e-commerce demand result in a meaningful spike in rates during the fourth quarter. Here are two lanes worth noting: Denver to Oklahoma City jumped 12¢ to a not-so-hot $1.43/mile. Only 23 lanes were higher, and 9 were unchanged. FALLING LANES. except in the West.

It's possible that the NFL playoff games and college bowl games increased demand from bars, restaurants and grocery stores. Denver to Albuquerque jumped 28¢ to $2.35/mile.
