In both our summary and perspectives focused on August and July global PMI reporting , we echoed an increased trending toward declining global supply chain production momentum. The orders-to-inventory ratio fell to another multi-year low last month as excess capacity continued to build at factories. up from a 47.3 reported for August.

A continued subdued product demand environment and added caution reportedly led to a decline in overall purchasing activity, lower levels of inventory and improved supplier delivery times. From our lens, this trend is mainly an indicator of seasonal holiday related demand and spending for the traditional holiday quarter.

With output contracting for the fifth consecutive month and business optimism reportedly dipping to an 11-month low, the report pointed to cutbacks occurring in manufacturing employment, purchasing and inventory levels globally.
