RALEIGH, NC, April 15, 2014 — Is it important to connect your supply chain strategy with your business strategy? According to a recent survey by Tompkins Supply Chain Consortium, nearly 80 percent of participants agree.
The four day workshop, being held December 9 – 13, 2019 in Raleigh, will focus on how procurement and supply chain leaders need to better sell the value of procurement to the organization. And when I say value, I mean more than just cost savings, or the infamous “purchase price avoidance” metric.
He then went into global imports for the central purchasing group in Raleigh. He met a colleague who worked at Car Quest, and after several interviews, started there. He started in supply planning, overseeing over $100M of spend in batteries and other categories.
His insights and presence were most appreciated by everyone, especially given the snowfall we were experiencing in Raleigh last night! For example, companies like Amazon are constructing massive distribution centers outside of major hubs like Atlanta, Raleigh, and Chicago, and are building them with direct access to on-ramps that go onto interstate highways built in the 1950s.
iconic places, such as the Route 128 tech corridor around Boston, Massachusetts; Research Triangle Park in Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Austin, Texas; Seattle, Washington; and, of course, California’s white-hot Silicon Valley.
My first Monday in, I asked for a full report of all our supply chain metrics, and my analyst told me he could get it to me by Friday. The major components include revenue, income statement, and balance sheet metrics, but others may follow that are important to the organization and its stakeholders.
