Spot Truckload Rates Continue a Slow-and-Steady Climb

Dallas, Philadelphia and Stockton, CA , each posted the biggest gains in terms of outbound rates, so the gains weren’t tied to any specific region. mile, up 14¢ Dallas to Denver rose 11¢ to $1.94/mile. Memphis to Dallas also dippedâ–¼9¢ to $2.09/mile. One more 9¢ drop: Denver to Albuquerque fell to $1.66/mile.

Extra capacity takes a bite out of prices

Plus, freight moves are less urgent at this time of year, so prices down were across the country. Denver to Albuquerque was down 30¢ to $2.04/mile. Nogales, AZ , had been a hot market in recent weeks as a gateway for Mexican produce, but prices plunged last week: the lane to Dallas dropped 86¢ to $2.51/mile.

Van load counts were already up big last week, with an uptick in freight moving out of L.A. Van volumes were down in Dallas as well as Chicago , though, and the overall spot market was basically flat week-over-week. Even with the dip in volumes, Dallas was still in the top 5 for van load posts on DAT load boards.
