Amazingly their blood delivery drone operation in Rwanda distributes 70% of that nation’s blood. Zipline’s fixed wing UAV delivery systems in Rwanda are moving at 100 kilometers per hour with no stop lights. On the panel was a company named Zipline, which is based in Silicon Valley. It’s not all about blood either.

The company was founded in 2014 in San Francisco and made its first flights delivering blood in Rwanda in 2016. It’s currently being used by sweetgreen, Michigan Medicine, MultiCare Health Systems, Intermountain Health and the government of Rwanda. By 2025, Zipline states, it will be operating more flights than most major U.S.

Our industry has to support transport innovation and business development for our rural communities here in Southeast Asia (especially small holder communities). As you can see, it will take innovative work and some food choice management. This will further reduce waste prior to market and further increase rural incomes.
