Look for loads of trees leaving Oregon, and potatoes out of Idaho or North Dakota. Twin Falls, Idaho is a great source for outbound reefer loads, prior to Thanksgiving. Look for a load from Twin Falls to Phoenix , which paid $2.24 From Phoenix, head back to L.A. per mile last week. per mile.

Potato shippers have continued to be busy, and there were big increases on a couple of lanes out of Southern Idaho. Twin Falls had two of the biggest jumps, but also the biggest decline: Twin Falls to Phoenix tumbled 52¢ to $2.91/mile. Twin Falls to Los Angeles rates rose 39¢ to an average of $3.09/mile.

Demand for vans continues to heat up on the West Coast, boosting load-to-truck ratios in California, Oregon, Idaho, and Utah. to Chicago , Dallas , Phoenix , and Denver. This trend repeats every year, as consumer goods from Asia arrive at the ports and begin the eastward journey to regional distribution centers throughout the country.

Denver to Phoenix slipped▼13¢ to $1.08/mile. California, Arizona, and Idaho generally have robust winter volumes, but those key markets have been soft so far this year. Chicago to Denver also dropped 12¢ to $2.13/mile. Denver to Dallas also fell 12¢ to only $1.01/mile.

REEFER TRENDS: Idaho lit up the Hot States map last week, and with good reason. For example, the lane from Twin Falls to Phoenix added 18¢ per mile last week, to an even $2.00. Rates also rose on a couple of lanes out of Rock Island , IL and Harrisburg , PA. HOT ROUND TRIP: Savannah to Charlotte and back, 500 miles at $2.57.

Prices were also up on the lane from Denver to Phoenix. Reefer rates bounced back in Southern Idaho , after a down week. Van rates on the lane from Columbus to Allentown have averaged $2.96 per mile in the past week, and Buffalo to Allentown is up to $2.98 Out West, the number of loads tripled on the lane from Denver to Los Angeles.
