This blog is based on Dassault Systèmes’ partnership with IndustryWeek on conducting a midyear survey of industry leaders to gain a better understanding of how virtualization technologies are helping them adapt to these changes. In a survey we conducted in October 2020, 91% of our Indago supply chain research community members, who are all supply chain executives from manufacturing, retail, and distribution companies, either Agreed or Strongly Agreed that the time had come to transform the traditional transportation procurement process.
“To improve,” the report rightly notes, “organizations should enhance supply chain visibility with robust data and analytics; use AI to foresee disruptions; keep business continuity plans current; and diversify supply sources, suppliers, manufacturing and logistics partners.” Those companies had at least $500 million in annual revenue.
Conducted across key trading regions, the survey gathered insights from 978 leaders, emphasizing the importance of robust global trade intelligence for competitive and compliant operations.
Manufacturing leaders who built resilient supply chains were successful in 2021, despite the many supply and demand fluctuations. A survey of 200 supply chain leaders found that most would shift supply chain strategies from linear to more integrated supply chain networks to detect and minimize risk.
