That could have been a contributing factor to the tighter reefer truckload capacity that we saw last week, with truck posts on DAT load boards down 5% for reefers. Out of California , Fresno outbound pricing jumped 4.4% Dallas volumes were weaker, but the average outbound rate increased 4.9%. Ontario prices climbed 2.3%

Freight patterns showed increased retail trade ahead of Memorial Day weekend, and since some drivers finished the week up early ahead of the holiday weekend, capacity also tightened. Central California produce returned in a big way last week, and outbound reefer rates soared 13% in Fresno. Fresno to Denver surged 52¢ to $2.70/mile

Refrigerated freight was met with tight capacity last week, with the annual Roadcheck inspection blitz taking many trucks off the road. We did get the expected bump in rates out of Fresno though, and California produce shipments are expected to remain strong at least until the 4th of July. mile both there and back.

Atlanta is the top market for load posts on DAT Load Boards , and tighter capacity has led to higher rates there. Prices fell sharply in Lakeland, FL , and Miami , but there were big gains in Atlanta , Dallas , and near the Mexican border in Nogales, AZ.

Most parts of California are shipping more loads, especially the Fresno market in central California. loads per truck, with areas of tight capacity in a few northern states. The ratio is a sensitive, real-time indicator of the balance between demand and capacity. Nogales to Dallas was up 15¢ to $2.24/mile.
